How To Change A Dell Laptop Processor?

i havea dell c400 latitude and how can i change my processor and is ther and good place to buy hard drive or ram memory for my laptop?????How To Change A Dell Laptop Processor?Because of the size and shape of the socket in which the c400 processor fits, there is not another processor made (that I know of) that you can put into one. So you probably can not upgrade the processor.

Also, because the memory and hard drive are unique to the Dell laptops (with memory different for each model), the best place to purchase the hard drive and memory is from Dell itself. You will pay about 10% more, but it will work. Worth the extra to get the right parts. How To Change A Dell Laptop Processor?take into local staples or other computer provider. Staples in Manhattan Kansas always does a gppd job for me!How To Change A Dell Laptop Processor? Not that easy for a laptop to change the processor. Best you should hope for is adding more memory or swapping out to a bigger hard drive. How To Change A Dell Laptop Processor?ram u can upgradeHow To Change A Dell Laptop Processor?Take the case off, take the old processor out, and put the new one in.

How hard is it to change processors?

That would depend on the processor ... some would require a complete new mother board and other things as well. ~How hard is it to change processors? All depends on the compatibility of the other parts of the system with the new one.How hard is it to change processors?Easy, I just upgraded mine by buying a new computer. =D

But seriously, if you have a compatible cpu it should be pretty easy. Just watch how you remove the cpu fan so that you can remount it the same way.How hard is it to change processors?depends if you bought ur computer from a manufacturer or u put one together. if you put one together then you should know how, but if u baught one, u first have to know what socket ur processor is, then you have to take the fan and heatsink off, then u have to unlock the socket by pulling up teh lever, then take it off, hten put in the right socket new processor, then apply thermal paste unless ur's already came with it in on the heatsink, then u close the hatch then put the heatsink and then fan on and secure it, then i dont know what to do after that, it may not work since hte manufacterer locked the bios settings, so its kinda hard to set it. ur better off not changing it and getting a new computer, or building oneHow hard is it to change processors? It is easy if there is nothing in the way. You may have to remove the cpu fan first. Depending on your motherboard and pc cards, you may have to remove them if they are in the way. You don't say what cpu you have, but I am assuming you have one of the newer ZIF (zero insertion force) processors. If this is the case, then once you remove anything in the way just pull out and toward you on the lever beside the cpu. Then you can just lift the cpu out. Don't forget to unplug the cpu fan if so equipped.

You need to be sure that the replacement cpu is supported by your motherboard. For example, if you have an Intel cpu with a 478 socket motherboard and you decide to replace with an AMD cpu - it won't work. How hard is it to change processors? It is not hard to change the processor. But you better make sure you have chosen the correct processor with right speed, compatibility etc etc.otherwise it may give hell of a headache........How hard is it to change processors? Not really that hard, usually. Some are a pain if you cant get at the processor very well, and some have irritating heat sink clamp downs. YOU MUST BE CAREFULL OF STATIC as it will ruin a processor, mobo, or memory.

However, I must ask WHY you are changing processors? Is your computer dead and you think it will fix it? If you are sure the processor is the problem, then go ahead but consider if it is a good financial idea before possibly throwing money away. If the computer is over about 4 years old, dont replace the processer, replace the computer instead as it is not worth it.

BE SURE the processer you are putting in is compatable with your motherboard! How hard is it to change processors? It really depends for me it pretty easy. I go to store buy new processor. Open up pc case. Ground myself. Remove cpu fan ground that. Remove old processor. Open package off new processor put in mounting area on motherboard then lock into place ,then put cpu fan on. The cpu fan sometimes seems like a challange. If everything runs smoothely and I take my time I can get it done in thirty minutes and thats if I take my time. It can take longer sometimes because cpu fan is sometimes a hassle to put back on. It could be done in five to ten minutes ,but the longer I take the more better of a job I will do. I don't like to rush. If I was to rush I could easily damage a part. Its pretty easy.just depends on how everything fits. If it I was to do it over I would just buy new motherboard and processor. I don't like having to remove the processor. Unless I have too. If you like hands on and you have worked on the inside of a pc then go for it. It funs. If not hire someone who knows what there doing. Its really a ten minute processes. Or if I really wanted it done fast I probably could do it in less than 3 minutes. As I said before don't rush if you got time. Good Luck . Also make sure your motherboard and other componets work with your new processor. Or make sure they are compatiable better to be safe then sorry. Once again good luckHow hard is it to change processors? Not that hard only 60 sec to change processor. How hard is it to change processors?i have a dell computer running windows pro. i plug it in and it powers on but the monitor will not come up. the monitor has power but will show nothing. I've tried 3 monitors. when you power on the dell it gives 4or 5 beeps

  • Is it possible to change my processor?

    Hello

I want to ask if I change my processor safely

Like my files will not be erased or deleted

and all of my setting will still be there

like if i have win vista SP1 SP 1 will still be there

and my user accounts and all of my programs will still be there

if it is possible, pls tell me the exact

procedure on how to install a new processor

and where in the motherboard is the processor?

pls also tell me how am i gonna take it out of my com without harming the PCIs it possible to change my processor?Yes, you can. Here's how:

    1. Unplug ANY cables in the back of your computer. I know it's a major pain to put them back in, but then, that's life.

    2. Bring your computer to an open space such as a living room, and for safety, do three things: 1. Place it sideways on top of a plank, 2. Wrap a piece of wire around your pinky finger tightly and wrap the other end around one of the screws in an outlet, and 3. Wear plastic gloves. YOU DON'T WANT TO SHOCK THE MOTHERBOARD! ALSO, DO NOT PUT THE END OF THE WIRE IN THE SOCKET, WRAP IT AROUND ONE OF THE SCREWS HOLDING THE SOCKET TO THE WALL!

    3. Remove the side of the computer. If it won't slide out, don't force it! Turn it over and try the other side. Only one of them will open, usually the left side when you face the computer head on. For more help, check your computer's user manual.

    4. There should be a square block sticking up in the middle of the motherboard. VERY CAREFULLY unlatch it and put it aside. There should be a small metal square underneath. Do the same thing with it as the cube.

    5. Again, VERY CAREFULLY unpack the new CPU you bought over the Internet. Following the instructions that came with it, put it where the old CPU was.

    6. Replace the side of the computer, bring back to where you use it, and replug all the cables.

IF YOU MESS THIS UP AND RUIN YOUR COMPUTER, YOU HAVE NO GROUNDS TO SUE ME!

By the way, a good place to buy computer parts cheaply is

    http://newegg.com

I AM NOT DOING THIS JUST TO ADVERTISE NEWEGG!

There is no soldering, micro or not, involved. Almost everything just pops together(albeit delicately). I don't know what Zosh was thinking.

Lastly, to borrow a word from otrcomputing, you'll need to check whether the CPU you're going to buy matches your motherboard before a purchase. Is it possible to change my processor? This is generally inadvisable but yes your files etc. are fine because they are on the HD. tbh i think if youre changing the processor and therefore more then likely the motherboard you might be better off just starting to build from scratch or just buy a new PCIs it possible to change my processor?the best bet for you is take it to a proIs it possible to change my processor? You can try but the chances of success are very slim. All of the computer's components are configured to work with the processor that is installed. Removing it is going to be awfully trick and involve some very precise micro-soldering. Like I said, you'll probably fry something and end up replacing the entire motherboard.

Just sell the computer and get a faster one.Is it possible to change my processor?Changing a processor is easy enough in a Desktop but really very hard in a laptop.

If you have a desktop it sits under the big heatsink/fan in the top left of your motherboard. Pop off the heatsink (all attach in different ways), lift the processor securing leaver, remove the processor, pop in a new one apply some thermal paste and then attach the new heatsink and fan.

You may need to re-activate your copy of windows but that is usually only the case if you swap out the motherboard.

Make sure the processor you buy is the right socket type for your motherboard, your motherboard will only accept the right type of processor.

How do i change the processor?

how do i change the processor chip of my cpu? i tried taking it out, but cant. my motherboard is intel 815 chipset. can offer me the whole procedure to do it? thxsHow do i change the processor? This site might be what you're looking for:

http://www.fonerbooks.com/r_cpu.htmHow do i change the processor? It usually just requires a screwdriver to pop off the retaining clip that holds the heatsink on.

Then once the heatsink is off there is a little lever that you pull up and that unlocks the processor and it just lifts right out.

BTW a processor is a cpu = Central Processing UnitHow do i change the processor?Have another chip of the same socket ready

    Have thermal paste ready

    Unplug computer

Take off CPU fan (make sure you can put it back on)

Remove Chip (try not to damge the board damaging the chip is ok YOUR REPLACING IT!)

Place suggested amount of thermal paste on new chip (size of a dime)

    Question about changing processor....?

my current processor is an amd turion dual core processor at 1.90 ghz... i need to get something running over 2.. how would i be able to do that myself??Question about changing processor....?Either get the processor changed, or overclock it.

Changing a processor in a notebook is a bit tricky though, so I highly recommend you get a experienced person to do it. Trust me, I tried changing a video card in a laptop before and it was hell..

You can try overclocking it, but sorry I have no knowledge of overclocking laptops and it sounds like a bad idea because laptops don't have cooling made for overclocking.

Can my laptop processor change its a hp 610 1.86 dual core?

i want to upgrade it to a quad core will it be a problem and how much it would cost to do itCan my laptop processor change its a hp 610 1.86 dual core?At the moment, not very many people have quad-core laptops nor are many quad-core processors available for laptops. But, it is possible to upgrade a laptop processor, it's just more irritating than upgrading a desktop one.

First, you have to determine the type of socket for your CPU. To do this, you can download CPU-Z and run it. Under %26quot;Package%26quot; on the main %26quot;CPU%26quot; tab, it should give you the Socket type on your laptop. Currently, the only Core 2 Quad for the laptop on Newegg.com matches the Socket P.

Second, you will have to do some research on your mainboard. Through CPU-Z, go to the %26quot;Mainboard%26quot; tab and find the model and manufacturer of the mainboard and look up on the company's website, or google.com, if it supports Core 2 Quad processors.

If your laptop passes these prerequisites, it should be able to run a Core 2 Quad. However, you should make sure you can get to and remove your CPU before buying a new one. So, open the bottom of your computer and see if you can find and remove the CPU of your laptop. Make sure to ground yourself by touching something metal before working on your laptop so you don't accidentally fry it with a static shock. If you can take out your processor, then you know you can also put a new one in.

If all goes well, then it's time to buy your processor and get to work with changing it. At Newegg.com, the Q9000 runs costs $364.99 USD, so it's quite pricey to upgrade your laptop to a Quad-core processor at the moment. However if this price is reasonable to you, go ahead and upgrade if you have made sure it is compatible with your laptop.

CPU-Z Download Page - http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.phpCan my laptop processor change its a hp 610 1.86 dual core?you can do that, but you'll need to find out what kinda socket you use currently for you processor.

you can change to any processors but you will need to check if it fits the socket you're currently using.

but i would assume, for Hp since its an oem, you will need to change the motherboard together.

and its always good to do that cause if you processor is fast and you motherboard is not, it could overheat and bust your motherboard
