Please HelpNeed help pc gaming about FRAMES?I will assume you mean how to increase your fps without lowering your game's video options to low. These are heavy games that hit your system hard, so that may be one option if you haven't done so. Your video card is fine, and is very capable. Sure, spending $200-400 on a newer video card will net you more frames per second, but it's not worth the money for getting a card that is only slightly better then your own. In the end, if you get a pricey Nvidia GTX 295 or ATI HD 5970, your difference may be 5 frames, perhaps 10?
Of course, 30-40 fps is not bad if your the normal average PC gamer. If you're hardcore, and you really want to push 60fps or more, you wouldn't be here. You'd be busy setting up you $9500 PC video game unit, perhaps the 2nd one this year.
If you are using an in-game tester, try comparing it with one program instead, such as FRAPS. Leave it running in the background and have it test your fps, then compare the averages.
So if it's not your video card, what's your bottleneck? It may be your Intel E4600. A good chip, really, but a bit long on the tooth for technology. I haven't looked into the overclock for this processor, but I know the E core duo have a faster series like the E4700, so this SHOULD be just fine for overclocking. Of course, if your motherboard %26amp; money allows, defiantly upgrade that processor. Expected impact of changing your processor to one that is slightly faster: about 3-6 FPS
Next, your ram. Your using Windows Vista... which sucks you dry on memory. Normally, memory would have little affect on your frames. But if your system is using up your virtual memory and swapping too much with your hard drive, you get big slowdowns which will directly affect your speed. 800MHz on your ram isn't enough unless you've managed to overclock it. I have 800MHZ mem, and have it overclocked, which also means I had to dissipate it's heat. Put another stick or 2 of ram in there and see your entire system benefit. Upgrade it before you upgrade your processor and test. Possible impact on FPS: 2-6 FPS.
How fast is your hard drive? The RPM and seek time of your hard drive matters. It can and will affect your game. Test it using a system tester, such as Performance Test, %26amp; use it to test your system heat, to make sure your video card and case are cool. Expected impact on your system 2-8 FPS
Check your virtual memory. Adjust it to be the same and test. If you have 2gb, I recommend setting your virtual mem to about the same for both minimum and max. You system's performance based on the virtual memory may be different than someone else, so you'll have to experiment to see what's best. Expected impact: 1-3 FPS.
Remove your background, memory and space hogging background stuff. Use a program like Gamebooster to do this if need be. Frame impact if it affects memory: 1-3 FPS.
Good luck.Need help pc gaming about FRAMES?The only way to incense the frame rates is to upgrade the graphics card. Upgrade to something high end like ATi HD5770 or HD5830 or Nvidia GTX260.
