OPENOFFICE WORD PROCESSOR: How do I change the default margin settings from cm. to inches?

Ok, here's the issue: I'm using Openoffice.org Word Processor for my computer in my keyboarding class. We have recently been learning how to format memos and email messages. For this assignment, we are required to adjust our margins on the top and left of the page. The problem is that my computer (and only mine; I'm the only one with this problem) has the default margin settings on centimeters. My class is operating on inches.

We always go under Format%26gt;Page window to adjust our margin settings. I have found out how to temporarily change the settings: If I right-click when pointed on the margin, it will temporarily change to inches. But this doesn't change the selections under Format%26gt;Page - those are still in centimeters. I need to figure out how to change my default settings. Does anybody know how to do this?OPENOFFICE WORD PROCESSOR: How do I change the default margin settings from cm. to inches? On OpenOffice.org Writer 2.4 (and presumably other versions):

~SnowAngelHow do you change the language on MICROSOFT WORKS WORD PROCESSOR?This is a list of foreign characters enterable in just about any Windows word processor, text editor, browser or email client. To get these characters,

1. Make sure your keyboard is in NumLock mode.

2. Hold down the ALT key and enter the number on the numeric keypad. (Note that many laptops have a blue FN key that changes a set of keys, also with blue numbers on them and usually in the 7-8-9-U-I-O area, into a numeric keypad.)

  • Do u have any idea how to use IDE Harddisk in a SATA port?

I upgraded my computer to Pentium Core 2 Duo. In doing so, i had to change my processor, mother board, Ram, Casing and AGP card. I have connected my one old IDE Harddisk as primary and one old IDE DVD drive as Slave to the only IDE port in the new mother board. But my other IDE Harddisk and CD Writer is useless unless I can connect those to the motherboard. Do u know of any kind of convertor / cable that connects the IDE drives to the new SATA ports of the motherboard. Or any other idea??Do u have any idea how to use IDE Harddisk in a SATA port?use IDE to SATA connector,,,,,,,

or just plug the IDE hard disk to CD rom FRC cableDo u have any idea how to use IDE Harddisk in a SATA port?Yes there is converter.to SATA TO PATA or PATA TO SATA

Since the converters were costly I just went ahead and bought an external storage case for my secondary hard disk which worked out fine.Do u have any idea how to use IDE Harddisk in a SATA port?Another idea is to install a pci card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

About my notebook, can I upgrade it?

My parents bought me an Acer 4920 more than half a year ago for computing in school while I'm away from home.. I'm not really into computers so I want to ask for some advice.

The specs according to the label:

    - Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 (1.83 GHz 667 MHz FSB 2 MB L2 Cache)

    - Up to 252 MB Mobile Intel Graphics Accelerator X3100 (i think it came integrated with the Intel Mobile Chipset 965)

    - 1 GB DDR2

Do you think I can upgrade my RAM and up to how much? Can upgrade my RAM to 3GB or it should only be 2GB/4GB? What I mean is can I use RAM with 1GB + 2GB combination?

Can I also change my processor as well as my graphics driver? Up to what extent can I upgrade those hardware? Sorry for the complicated question.. Thank you and good day..About my notebook, can I upgrade it?The only hardware you can upgrade is the RAM. To find out what kind you need, and how much you can install, go to Crucial's web site and run their memory scanner. It will give you a very complete report on your RAM. You can take the info and shop around, or you can just buy what they recommend. Crucial is very good quality.

http://www.crucial.comAbout my notebook, can I upgrade it?Hard to tell as you haven't given much info.

Run a test at Crucial RAM testing (Google it) and see what they say!

Don't get 4gb of RAM, your computer will only read about 3.2 or so of it.

It would be very costly to change the processor, better off saving for a new laptop!

If you're patient, quad core will be standard soon, and dual core laptops will drop in price dramatically!

I want to upgrade my netbooks overall performance.?

I was hoping somebody could help me out, I wanted to buy a 4 gig of ram to speed it up but I'm not sure if I should change the processor as well. I was also hoping if anyone out there knew how far I can take this net book of mine. As for specs on my net book it is a Asus Eee PC T91MT with a Intel (R) Atom (TM) CPU Z520 @ 1.33 ghz and 1 gig of RAM and a multi-touch feature with the tablet PC feature so its no ordinary net book. It only has 32 Gigs of space Running on Windows 7 on a 32-bit Operating system. I was hoping someone could tell me if any of these could be upgraded to a better faster part to be replaced with and if there's anything else I should upgrade. I would do it myself but I'm not to familiar with the limitations of net books, sorry for the long question and I thank you for taking the time in answering me. I usually use Newegg.com to buy all my electronics so if what I need is there it would be much appreciated thank you all.I want to upgrade my netbooks overall performance.?1) You can't upgrade the processor. It's an Atom.

    2) I'm pretty sure 2GBs of RAM is the max.

If you want a fast computer, then you shouldn't be using a netbook. Netbooks aren't made for performance, only portability.I want to upgrade my netbooks overall performance.?for what it would cost you tom upgrade it you could buy a decent laptop

  • Can I upgrade my Toshiba Satellite a215-s4747 CPU, Graphics, and RAM?

I would like a new processor, more ram and a better graphics card in my Toshiba Satellite a215-s4747. I have a AMD Turion 64 X2 1.80ghz and would like it to be around 3.0 ghz. I have 1.0 gb of ram and would like to double it. And I have a ATI Radeon X1200 graphics and would like to upgrade that as well. I am wondering how I go about this. Can I change my processor to something faster? Would it just be easier to buy a new laptop, though I am short on money so I thought this would be cheaper if I can do it.Can I upgrade my Toshiba Satellite a215-s4747 CPU, Graphics, and RAM?in that laptop, only the ram, hdd and cpu can be changed. getting a faster cpu will be very hard if not impossible. in order to change out the videocards you'll need a laptop that has mxm on it. faster clock speeds dont always mean faster performance. ie: 3.0GHz P4 vs. 2.0GHz Core2Duo. c2d comes out on top.

mxm is a really confusing standard(if you can call it that) here's a link to an asus that will smoke almost anything you'll see on store shelves.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asCan I upgrade my Toshiba Satellite a215-s4747 CPU, Graphics, and RAM?you can't really change anything is a laptop, except for the ram

better of with buy a new laptop.

If you really want a very fast computer, then go for desktop. because everything is a desktop is easy to replace and modify.

You can increase the RAM and the Hard Disk Drive (HDD)

But the CPU and Video - Generally No

    MY FRIENDS COMPUTER QUESTION?

my friend got his computer in 2006 and it came with a p4 in it. his mobo has an LGA 775 socket and it has 4 slots for ram. my question is (if it is possible) would he be able to change his processor? and how would the ram work cuz the p4 takes ddr5 ram and most processors now take ddr2. so how would this work? and what would be the max amount of ram he could put? (i was told around 4 gbs cuz the slots on his pc could only tolerate 1 gb per slot) thanks

mail me if u have any questions or if u dont understand somethingMY FRIENDS COMPUTER QUESTION?You will have to look up the motherboards requirements from the manufacturer. You SHOULD be able to upgrade the processor, but you may not be able to put something like a quad-core in it. Same thing will the RAM check with the manufacturer.

    Question for changeing my cpu?

Hi I have a question, I would like to change my processor but do not know how to find a solution to socket, watching CPU-Z is that the socket AM2 (940), and the question lies the fact that if I can be there to support AM2 processors, such as like this: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600 + AM2 Box

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600 + AM2 Box 2,8 GHz 1MB ADA5600DOBOX 65W

Sorry for my bad English :DQuestion for changeing my cpu?OK

    Yeah. AM2 is the same.

    You can change it.

And AM2+ will also work on the same socket if you want to change.Question for changeing my cpu?It all depends on your motherboard. CPU-Z isn't always correct. If you new the make and model of the motherboard it would be much easier to tell you what is compatible or not. If this pc a custom build or store bought? If it is a namebrand pc like dell, HP, Gateway, Sony, or one like that, if you could give model number and/or serial, I could look up the specs and give you a much better answer but I would hate to tell you yes that processor will work great just by going by what CPU-Z said the socket was and then it not work or even worse it fits the socket but not compatible and you fry your board or new processor...or both!Question for changeing my cpu?consult hardware engineer. he wil solve ur problem exactly. dont do mistakes wit these answers.ok

how to speed up my HCL laptop?

i have HCL laptop with 1.66 GHz CPU Intel Mobile processor

    with 512 MB DDR2 RAM (1 chip)

and 2 MB L2, 128 MB Graphics Memory with 56MB Video Accelaration Memory

Now the Question is ...how to speed up my laptop?

Prob 1 - i want to play SIMS 3, MS Quake 4, and NFS 2010 Beta2 like high memory consuming games.

Prob 2 - on the otherhand also i need to work on Corel 12 Beta 3, Photo Shop CS4, AffetAffects and many other Sound editing packages like Sound Fourge etc.

Prob 3 - I also want to install Win7 instead of Windows Vista Premium on my laptop. so i need to increase RAM too.

but i can change the processor i.e. 1.66 GHz.

So provide me the best solution to speed up for all these tasks

    - should i increase RAM . ?%26gt;?? if yes then how much? i ve 2 RAM slots on my HCL laptop.

    - should i add some additional Hard drive as .... but i already have 520 GB Sata HDD on it.

    - is there any way to add additional memory support that can be connected via USB. ? is yes then please tel me that way and complete procedure to install that.

because i dont want to spend too much now on my laptop. How to speed up my HCL laptop? Read full detailed Question first .please..?Prob 1: you might need a better graphics card

Prob 2: more RAM, as much as it can take (seriously).

Prob 3: Win 7 is fine, 1GB RAM would do.

Adding a hard drive probably won't speed it up unless your present one is knackered in some way.

You can't add memory by USB. You have to open the PC and physically add in a new stick of memory into the correct socket. Exactly how will depend on your laptop, I've never seen an HCL so not sure where to look for the RAM slots, but there's usually a screwed down panel on the bottom. How to speed up my HCL laptop? Read full detailed Question first .please..?Most computers actually run slow because of a hidden part of your system, which is constantly being used by Windows. This part of your PC is called the %26quot;registry%26quot; and is the central database for Windows, which stores everything from your latest emails to your desktop wallpaper. It's one of the most important parts of Windows and can easily make your PC run slow. The more corrupt registry files your computer has, the more it struggles to read them. The files which makes it run slower and slower. To fix this, you simply need to use a registry cleaner http://cleanup-comuter-run-perfectly.com . These are small software tools which actually work by scanning through the registry and fixing any bad files that are in there. This then allows Windows to read as many files as it wants, when it wants to.

    Should I buy more RAM?

Hello Everyone! I'm a HUGE computer geek, and a true Sims 2 + 3 junkie. I like running multiple applications at once: itunes, firefox, Adobe flash, Illustrator, Netflix, Sims 2 Bodyshop, etc and or Sims 2, Sims 3, firefox.. blah blah blah you get my drift. Hands down I'm impatient and I feel that my 2G of RAM is not enough at all for my selfish needs. It runs the Sims 2 + 3 smoothly- but the loading screens take forever. I have 13+GB's of download in my Sims 2 folder. They are all compressed and I'm hoping upgrading to 6GB's of RAM will speed things up a bit. Plus when running Lightwave, Flah, and Illustrator, etc Heavy CPU applications at once they randomly crawl. Now that I have the money I'm ready for change!

    My processor is: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU ES5200 @ 2.50GHz (2 CPU's)

    2.00 GBs of RAM

    1,300+GBs of HardDisk memory

    Windows XP PRO Spack 3

The RAM sticks I'm debating on buying are exact matches of my DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) CL5 240pin sticks. I'm getting 4GB (Two 2GB module sticks)

My question is: Will adding to my RAM enhance my computers performance? What's your opinions, save my money- or go for it?

Please: DON'T explain to me how to %26quot;clean up%26quot; my downloads folder - it IS clean, just abundant so- NOT happening.

Or: DON'T Explain to me what RAM is (Random Access Memory) A big vehicle for my massive luggage. The bigger the vehicle the more luggage I can carry.

ALSO: PLEASE explain to me about the coordination of the 3 combined. I am not Updating my processor - if you have any knowledge let me know if more RAM with my current one will make much of a difference. Thanks! :DShould I buy more RAM?Well upgrading RAM is only one part of it. Yes upgrading to 4GB of RAM will boost you computers performance when running applications, however i would reccomd you upgrade your CPU as well.

while dual core 2.55ghz isnt bad, it certainly isnt the best for as much %26quot;multitasking%26quot; that you do. I know you said you dont want to upgrade your cpu, but its just a friendly suggestion.

But anyway, I dont know how much you are spending on RAM so i cant really give you an accurate answer. However, if you have the money go for it. Dont expect to see a MAJOR performance boost however. I had 4gb of RAM in my rig a while ago and it would still bog down a bit until i upgraded to 8gb.

WORD OF WARNING: if you are running a 32-bit operating system. Then there is no point in going over 2gb of RAM. Technically 32-bit programs will only register like 3.2gb of RAM even if you put more than that. if thats the case, then i suggest you save your money and either buy a new operating system that is 64-bit or a brand new computer.

Anyway, good luck.Should I buy more RAM?YES. if you are running multiple programs 2gb or ram wont cut it. 6 will be a lot better. the more ram you have the more workspace you have. therefore the ability to do more things at once. so yes got for it. you are making the right moveShould I buy more RAM?Windows XP pro 32 bit wont support more than 3.5 to 4 GB of ram.

    ~Should I buy more RAM?YES , U R RIGHT , U CAN UPGRADE THE RAM TO INCREASE THE PERFORMANCE.

IF U NEED ANY TECH HELP OR SUGGESTION THEN CALL ME @ 917-832-8264 AS I PROVIDE FREE TECH SUPPORT AS A HOBBYShould I buy more RAM?More ram can help, but XP pro is limited to only 4gb by design. In fact you will only be able to use 3.25 or 3.5 gb of ram even with 4gb installed, depending on your graphics card. XP will set aside ram for the graphics card and you won't be able to use it. Check properties of 'Computer' after the ram install to see what you really will be using. Also, make sure your bios is set to use dual channel because that will help a lot. If your computer is running slow you could upgrade your cpu, or clean up your computer with unwanted programs running in the background. Type msconfig in the run command and uncheck any unwanted programs to increase your performance.

What is a good desktop to buy, more details inside? Also what are the best desktop brand(s)?

I already have xp professional and windows 7, so don't care about what operating system it comes with. I also don't care if it has a large hard drive or not, but I would like it to take multiple harddrives. I know I may sound dumb with these questions, but I am so used to just using laptops, but not about taking them apart.

I only am worrying about how much ram it has and how much GHz the processor has, I don't know how to add ram or change a processor, or what things I should not do. I want it to be compatible with the largest processor(s).

Also I am looking for a desktop that isn't too costly.

Regarding upgrades for the computer. You can easily upgrade any component in the computer, however I do not recommend changing the motherboard or cpu unless you have the neccesary %26quot;know-how%26quot;.

Can you help me upgrade my PC?

I am looking to do some upgrades to my computer because I want it to perform better and I do not want to buy a new one right now. I have an HP Pavilion a1253w with an AMD Athlon 64 processor 3400+ running at 2.19 Ghz and 2.43 GB of RAM.

I am wondering how easy/feasible it is to change the processor and what would be a good replacement for what I have. I want to optimize my speed while on the internet, especially.

As for the RAM, I am already pretty certain that I could add more than I have and I am considering doing that, but my main question here is about the processor.

Also, if there is anything else that I could do in regards to hardware upgrades to increase speed and performance, please let me know.

Thanks for any help. Can you help me upgrade my PC?You can probably fit a dual-core into there, though I wouldn't recommend it. You have socket 939, and due to limited supply socket 939 dual-cores are way overpriced compraed to newer AM2 ones, and you have to shell out 80+ dollars for a measly 2GHz 3800 X2.

The highest clocked socket 939 duals are the 2.6GHz FX-60s, which go for over $200.

At that point you might as well change out the motherboard, processor, and RAM at once.

For $150 you can get a decent motherboard, 4GB RAM, and an Athlon X2 dual-core.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asCan you help me upgrade my PC?Your processor and, RAM are good enough that you should be able to surf the internet with no problems. Internet speed is more dependent on you internet connection speeds than your processor and, RAM. It's going to be difficult to upgrade your CPU without changing the motherboard and, RAM as well. It would probably be easier to buy a new computer. You might could use some more RAM but, again 2.43gb should be plenty to surf the web with no problems. Go to http://crucial.com/ Scan your computer with their tool. It will tell you what you have and, suggest upgrades.

If your using dial up switch to high speed wireless, DSL or, Cable to improve your internet speeds. If you already have wireless, DSL or, Cable. Check with your provider on ways to increase speed.

  • How can I run World at War 5 on my laptop more quickly?

My son received World at War 5 for PC on Christmas Day. He has recently bought a Dell Inspiron laptop with a 2.1 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 4Gb of RAM, an integrated graphics card GMA X3100 and a hard drive of 320 Gb. The laptop meets the game's system requirements as far as I can tell except for the processor speed, which it says should be 3GHz or better. Is there any way I can adjust the laptop or game so that it can run (it jerks so slowly as to be unusable)? If not, is it feasible to change the processor inside the laptop without it costing the earth? How can I run World at War 5 on my laptop more quickly?while in game you can go to settings, video, and lower the settings, which will ultimately make the game run better, play with the settings and you'll find a reasonable one. For me, looking at your specs, its not able to run High settings very well so i'd go with medium or low so your able to run through the game without any lag at all. Down below is an answer to your second question, you can OverClock a cpu so the speed is faster and can handle more, but be worned, this is modding it and by increasing speed you increase heat and the chance of your laptop failing, good tip, its safe to go .2 Ghz, anything above that increase gets riskyHow can I run World at War 5 on my laptop more quickly?take that game and chuck it away....

ive heard that game is highly addicting

if you dont do it now it might be too late

Do not know how to run smoothly Empire Total War?

    Hello everyone,

I am not a really good person, in this area, but I have this problem, I managed to install Empire Total War, ad run it, that was not a problem, although is low resolution, but is on the windows system on my mac. However, I do not meet one of the requirements that is the processor, the processor, which is asked it 2.4, but my is 2.0, I have all the other options, so, is there a way, which i can improve the smoothly game play, because I cannot change my processor, so is there away that I can do it... for example to buy a better ram, or to install the windows 7 on my mac something like that? Would that make it better?Do not know how to run smoothly Empire Total War?You can actually buy a new processor and place it in to your motherboard.

    I would Like to change the processor to a AMD Athlon(TM) II 240 dual-core processor [2.8GHz, 2MB L2, up to 4000MT/s bus]

The Graphics card to a 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4350 [DVI, HDMI, VGA adapter]

and the Networking card to a Wireless-G LAN card

otherwise I would like to keep everything else the same.So would this be a good computer to play the sims 3 on or not.How Good is this Computer for playing Sims 3?Should be fine. The VRAM is plenty and the rest should easily suffice for playing The Sims 3, since it's not an overly intensive game by any means.

How to fix the slowness of my PC?

I have a basic PC with a Pentium 4 processor, 512 Mb ram and 120 Gig hard disk. I use Windows Xp as an operating system, Every thing was fine until I got this virus called UJBRIGHT from where on to my PC, though McAfee removed the virus from my PC, it became really slow. I followed some instructions from Yahoo answers to remove the virus and made some changes in the booting initially, now i don't remember what I exactly did. However there is no virus now but it take a lot of time just to start up, also the screen resolution changes automatically to 800 by 600 pixels, every time I log in. Can some one help and let me know how to restore the settings and make my PC run normally. How to fix the slowness of my PC?The best way is to try to Tune up your PC with software programs of your choice that will clean up you pc and give it a boost in performance. You may want to start by unistalling any unecessary programs you do not use. The simple way is to go to add/remove under the control panel. While it may remove the program usually leaves some unecessary files behind. You can get a detailed uninstall of programs by using specialized software. If that does not help you may need to scan your registry for any errors and delete any unecessary media or other files. If you have done all of this an still no boost in your performence. You may want to cosider upgrade in memory if your motherboard allows it. It may already be runing in max memory capacity.Feel free to contact me =) Try the site below the Great package deal. How to fix the slowness of my PC?After long time using, your computer generatea lot of junk files such like temporary and corrupt files. Those files prevent your PC from running smoothly, also take up much hard disk space. If you do not clean them, your computer becomes slow.

Does my motherboard supports the Intel core 2 quad?

    I have a hp pavilion s3260in PC.

It has an ASUS IPILP-AR motherboard.

    Motherboard chipset: Intel i945G.

I am using an Intel Core 2 duo e4500 processor.

I want to change my processor to intel core 2 quad.

Does my motherboard support the intel core 2 quad processor?

Or will i have to buy a new mother board? if yes then please tell me some cheap compatible motheroard.

Also I Want to add an ATI Hd Radeon 4870 Graphics card, can i use the card on my existing motherboard.

How much power do i need to run all these components ( quad core processor, hd 4870 GPU, DVD drive, 300 GB Hitachi hard disk)

Thanks in advanceDoes my motherboard supports the Intel core 2 quad?Since the Core 2 Duo and the Core 2 Quad are the same motherboard socket, your motherboard will support the Quad. To run all those components, the Newegg.com Power Supply Calculator (assuming you have a normal 4GB of RAM) says you would need approximately 500watts. You can easily get a 500watt power supply for rather cheap, like one of these from Newegg.com:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

Both will suit your needs well, but won't give much room for upgrades later. If you plan on Crossfiring your 4870's at some point (slightly over 700watts, want 750+), you'll need something like this one:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

    Hope this helps, good luck!

PSU Calculator: http://educations.newegg.com/tool/psucalDoes my motherboard supports the Intel core 2 quad?Won't take a Quad core, max is E6700 (2.66 GHz) with Dual Core technology (Conroe core)

Can the HP system and build a total new system. You'll need a new motherboard and memory anyway.

Just because its the same socket doesn't mean it will take a Quad core, you must check the specs of the motherboard.

See source below for this motherboard.Does my motherboard supports the Intel core 2 quad?Best way would be to goto intel's website. and click on the desired processor you want. They have a list there of the supported motherboards.Does my motherboard supports the Intel core 2 quad?lol. pc. get a mac. only if u can afford it tho. no offense. and i kno im gonna get dogged for this. if anyone else who is a pc is reading this, no pc isnt better, but it isnt all bad. shoot, i might go back to pc just for windows 7, hehe. oh and if u dont like mac cuz theres no right-click or cuz its prettier, then thats an ignorant way to look at it. fyi, it has boot camp, which lets u use any windows program with the efficiency of a mac, and to right click, just hold ctrl and click to access other options. lol sorry SONIA. im just trying to make a point. just go to intel's site. they have a list of motherboards that are supported. :)Does my motherboard supports the Intel core 2 quad? No, you can't use a quad core. A quad will fit the socket, LGA775, but it wouldn't have BIOS support from HP. Without the proper BIOS for it, either it won't work properly or it won't work at all.

    Supports the following processors:

Core 2 Duo E6000 series up to E6700 (2.66 GHz) with Dual Core technology (Conroe core)

Core 2 Duo E4000 series up to E4300 (1.8 GHz) with Dual Core technology (Conroe core)

Celeron D 300 series rev D-0 up to 360 (3.46 GHz) (Cedar Mill core)

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum

Due to the size of your systems case (Slimline = slim tower), it has very limited internal space available for a graphics card. You can only use a low power, low profile graphics card, the HD 4870 won't fit. It also uses a TFX power supply that is small but long, an uncommon form factor that usually has a power rating of 300W or less, insufficient for the power requirements of an HD 4870 even if the card could fit, which it can't.

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum

Upgrade options for that form factor power supply are almost non-existant.

The only practical option you have would be to buy another case, any ATX, from miniATX to ATX that supports a microATX motherboard (yours), and transfer your systems components to the new case for the additional room you'll need for the card you want and an ATX power supply (very common size) that will meet or exceed the power requirements of the HD 4870. Another option would be to buy another system of the ATX variety that has the internal space needed for the card and also has an ATX power supply that can be easily upgraded.

Unfortunately, slim tower and all in ones have extremely limited upgrade potential.

    Calling all computer geeks!?

im looking to change my processor, motherboard, and graphics card because my computer just can't withstand 2days video games. this is what i dream (not to actually buy) but im wondering, how much would be the cost of a dual core around 2.2 ghz with hyper threading. Remember, i need a motherboard to support this.Calling all computer geeks!?The only non-XEON processor with hyper threading the presler - which is $1000 by itself:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as

You do realize that Most dual core processors do NOT have Hyper Threading.

You should probably consider going with an AMD Athlon X2 - they're generally considered better for gaming anyway.Calling all computer geeks!?Googling for hardware retailers would provide you with a million and one websites with this kind of information on them, such as:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/Calling all computer geeks!?Ummmm you lost me there. Not a computer geek =(Calling all computer geeks!?go to www.tigerdirect.com and search for the products you need.

The prices arent too shabby eitherCalling all computer geeks!?first if you buy a new processor like the intel core2 duo, you do not need the hyperthreading anymore. you can get a good motherboard for 200$ and the core 2 duo E6600(the best for the price/cost) costs about 400$Calling all computer geeks!?You might as well get a new pc.Calling all computer geeks!?your best bet is to just get a new tower , to be frank it would be a good investment really you will probably spend more in the long run there are alot of really good cpu's out there for a good price get one with an AMD 64 athlon x2 very good and im sure you will be happy with it you might like to check out best buy and look at there HP pavilion AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor 3800+ 1.99 GHz 1.00 GB or RAM i had a Graphics card add for 90.00 a Radeon X1300 and this computer rocks for a real affordable price that is my sugestion good luck enjoyCalling all computer geeks!?i wouldnt recommend buying from tigerdirect.com .. they usually sell refurbished stuff

if u are into gaming, consider getting an alienware computer (now owned by dell) or an xps from dell...

or if u want a cheaper one, get a computer with an amd 64 bit processor..

amd is a gaming processor and usually fits well for gamers

    consider buying 2giga ram

    buy a new computer

dont spend more in repairing the one u have

it sound like u need a change

go for amd 64 bitCalling all computer geeks!?change your whole computer manCalling all computer geeks!?With Core 2 Duo there's no need for Hyperthreading as it's the same as having 2 (TWO) processors. One could be dedicated to just gaming and gaming only. How nice does that sound to ya? TigerDirect is an excellent place to buy computer parts. Yes, they sell some refurbished stuff, but not refurbished parts. Regardless, it will say if it's refurbished right next to the price, if that's the case. Remember though, if you decide on building your system, think about alternative ways to keep the inside of the case cooler with the set up you're wanting. good luck! And building is cheaper than buying pre-built!

Help 4When I try use Windows Media Player 11 to play a digital rights management (DRM)-protected media file...?

This is the information i have so far:

You cannot play back DRM-protected media or obtain new licenses

You cannot play back DRM-protected media files by using Windows Media Player 11 or obtain new licenses for content. Additionally, you may receive one of the following error messages:

The licenses for your media files are corrupted. (Error code 0xC00D2754)

Windows Media Player 11 cannot play the file because the associated license is either corrupted or not valid. (Error code 0xC00D11D6)

The license to play the packaged media is invalid

C00D277F - Secure storage protection error. Restore your licenses from a previous backup and try again

C00D277F - Secure storage protection error. Restore your licenses from a previous backup and try again

    Cause

The DRM store on the computer is not valid or is damaged in some way. Potential causes for this problem include the following: ?The processor was changed.

    ?The motherboard was changed.

?A BIOS setting was changed that affected hardware. (For example, you disabled hyperthreading.)

?You moved the hard disk on which music was first downloaded from one computer to another.

?An application, such as the RegClean utility, changed DRM settings in a way that caused corruption.

?You performed a clean installation of the operating system.

This issue occurs because DRM systems, such as Windows Product Activation, maintain an internal hardware ID. This ID is based on the hardware configuration that existed when Windows was installed or when Windows Media Player 11 was installed. If you change the processor or other devices, the hardware ID in the DRM system does not match the new computer configuration. In this case, DRM determines that a user has tried to move protected content to another computer. This behavior can also occur if DRM detects that the DRM-protected storage in the registry has been changed to protect the integrity of the DRM licenses.

    Resolution

To reset the DRM store, follow these steps:1. Exit Windows Media Player 11.

    2. Find the DRM folder on the hard disk. By default, this folder is %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM in Microsoft Windows XP.

    3. Delete the contents of the folder.

    4. Visit the following Microsoft Web site:

    http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indi (http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indi

    5. Follow the instructions on the Web site to update the security component of Windows Media Player 11. This procedure should enable you to obtain new licenses for media. You should also be able to reset licenses for purchased content so that you can play that content on a computer.

Note You must contact any third-party stores from which you purchased music to reset the licenses for that music. If you have copied CDs to protected Windows Media Audio files, those CDs must be copied again.

    Computer Questions?

    Okay, here goes.

    1. Can I change my processor to intel to another processor that is not intel?

    2. Can I change my video card ( by the way, how do I find out what is my video card?) ?

    3. Example, if I buy a video card brand name and the processor is another brand name, will it still work?

    4. How do I find out how much video ram I have?Computer Questions?1. No each motherboard has a specific chipset that is only compatible with certain processors.

    2. Yes, right click the desktop, then select properties, then advanced, then adapter.

    3. Yes, the video card only requires the appropriate slot or interface on the motherboard.

    4. When you go to the advanced tab in question 2 it will show how much video memory you have.Computer Questions?1. No, processors usually have different %26quot;socket%26quot; types that they fit into on motherboards.

    2. Video cards can be changed, you computer is proabably using a built-in or embedded video controller on the motherboard if it plugs into the I/O interface - the back side of the PC where the mouse and keyboard connectors are. It's a stand along card if it plugs in towards the %26quot;bottom%26quot; where expansion slots are. Video cards can be AGP, PCI or PCI express (PCIe). You'll need your computer documentation to know what type of cards it will support.

    3. Video card and processor can be separate brands, as long as the motherboard supports the video card type it should work.

    4. That's a good question - embedded (and some video cards) share system memory (RAM), I've always known how much video memory I have because of the video card I purchased (i.e. it tells you on the box) so I have never poked around to try to find out what this number is because I already know it.Computer Questions?Download SiSoftSandra 2008. Install and run it and it will tell you everything about what is inside your computer right down to the chipsets, bios version and will tell you everything about your video as well. Then you be informed enough about what you have so you can decide what can or can't be changed, removed or replaced.

  • How much would it cost to change a 1.73GHz processor to a 3GHz?

Also, i dont know how to do it myself so if you could tell me where i could go to do that. How much would it cost to change a 1.73GHz processor to a 3GHz?I would personally just buy a new computer. Because the new processor will have to be compatible with the motherboard you are using...which is hard to find out if it is. Also please specify if you're talking AMD processor, or IBM...and if you're talking single core, dual core, quad core. I'll be back looking for this info!

Ok, so you're wanting to get a Intel dual core, 3GHz processor. That will set you back about $200 just for the chip.

But in my opinion, since you're not really that amazing with computers, what I would do is take it to GeekSquad (at your local bestbuy) and tell them what you want done, ask how much it would cost, then if it's considerably less than a new computer, do it. Trust me, if you install the chip incorrectly, or the MotherBoard isn't compatible, you'll be in a tight situation. How much would it cost to change a 1.73GHz processor to a 3GHz?Usually older computers need to be replaced because the old parts are no longer usable in a new computer because they are obsolete.

Visit a computer store in your area and ask for advice. If you know the specifications of your old computer you don't need to bring it with you.How much would it cost to change a 1.73GHz processor to a 3GHz?if you want better performance from a computer then you need to change more than just the processor

although saying that a dual core 1.73 processor is not slow, you got the equivalent of 3.4ghz processor in there (1.73 x 2) as there are two processing chips not one

are u finding the computer runs slow?

if so when? in general, loading stuff, playing games?

what do you use the computer for if you use for plaing games then consider a better graphics card the rest of the spec should cope quite well with most games, if its for office work and internet then the spec you have is more than adequate

you may just need to defragment the hard drive and use a registry checker (free online) to check for and rid the registry of invalid registry entrie that can slow the computer down, look at some of my previous answers in my profile there is a list of these applications that you can download for free

if you need more help or advice email me: edwardtrickett@live.co.ukHow much would it cost to change a 1.73GHz processor to a 3GHz?dont go to pc world for this, a small local computer shop is better, you'll need a compatible core motherboard for core processors, if yours is 1.73ghz pentium 4 or celeron you can get a 3.6ghz one without changing motherboard which is realy good.

    core processors aren't as fast as a pentium 4 3.6ghz unless it's a 2.4ghz x2 which is 4.8ghz. but these are expensive.

so I realy recommend to keep the motherboard and just get the fastest processor you can from ebay or something.

to replace the processor, switch everything off, take out the side panel from your pc, takeout the heatsink and fan takeout the processor, replace it with the new one, put the heatsink fan back on. if you think this is hard then get the local shop to do it for you.

don't forget that you must have at least 1 or 2 gigbaytes of RAM too the processor isn't everythingHow much would it cost to change a 1.73GHz processor to a 3GHz?you cant overclock your CPU as its for a laptop pc, if u had a desktop version then you could easily overclock it to 2.4gz (maybe higher)

Intel processor help as well as DDR RAM help?

    1) are all intel processors FSB QUAD pumped regardless of weather they are Intel pentium 4 or intel 2 core DUO or intel 2 core QUAD??

    2) Also how do i know how many pins are there on my DDR2 RAM and also can all DDR2 and DDR3 rams be inserted in both directions into the DIMM Slots??

    3) lastly can i upgrade my Pentium 4 processor to a Intel 2 core DUO processor without changing to a new mother boardIntel processor help as well as DDR RAM help?1. What?

    2. Pins? Is it a laptop or a desk top? Model? No, RAM can only be inserted one way.

    3. Many P4s are Socket 478, so they would NOT be compatible with C2D. Some are Socket 775...so some of them might be compatible. Nobody can tell you unless they know what kind of mobo you have.

    Upgrading your desktop?

ive got an HP Compaq desktop i think its a dx series 2200 or 2300, its has an intel pentium 4 processor 3.6ghz 2mb l2 cache, 1024mb ram and 512mb graphics card running on win xp sp2, i wanted to know what i could do to upgrade its performance for gaming and vista compatibility, and could i change the processor to core 2 duo, and how do i know max ram that i could have???Upgrading your desktop? To upgrade a computer, you'll need a faster CPU, more RAM and a better graphics card. From what I see from your setup, everything is pretty good except for your RAM. Open up your computer and see what RAM slots are occupied. Chances are for you there are two 512MB RAM cards in there. You should be able to replace those two with 1GB of RAM for a decent price or possibly buy two 2GB of RAM for those slots. It depends how many slots you have.Upgrading your desktop?go to HP support website and enter your product model, it will show up your computer specs and everything.

    http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html?pageDisplay=support

if it has LGA 775 cpu socket, a chance that you can updrade it to core duo. But i doubt it.You can add more RAM to your system. make it at least 2GB of RAM.Upgrading your desktop?wait for the service pack 1 of windows vista before you upgrade because there are still lots of bugs to fix. but if you want to upgrade to windows vista, it is better to have a 2GB physical memory to run it smoothly. i think you have 3 memory slots, you can try to upgrade DDR2 motherboard like ASUS or GEFORCE with a cheaper price.Upgrading your desktop?Hmmm... Check to see if your computer has PCI Express slots for a better graphics card. One of the best on the market right now is the GeForce 8800.

As for ram I would have at least 2 gigs of high performance ram. Like the corsair series for example.

Your processor is great, don't touch it. And make sure your power supply in the computer is high enough to sufficiently handle the new stuff you are putting in. Less power=less performance.

It also depends what type of games your playing. If your playing with the newer higher requirements games then by all means go out and %26quot;pimp: your computer. But if not then your computer can handle most anything at the moment.Upgrading your desktop?to find out what type of ram you have go to http://crucial.com/systemscanner/index.aspx that will tell you what type of ram you have and how much each bank can hold. i also recomend going up to 2gb of ram as it will make your computer more vista compatible, but the best way to increase your computers performance is to put the maximum amount of ram into each bank. 2gb ram will increase your gaming performance alot.

has the pentium 4 got hyper threading technology, because iff t does it makes the computer think that there is 2 cpu's in there (like a core2 duo). i wouldnt worry about upgading your cpu its perfectly fine for games and vista.

    Overclocking Question?

I have a Intel Pentium D (Pentium D 820) running at 2.80Ghz , i wanted to know if i could overclock it safely to 3.0 GHz with out any changes (like getting a new fan and heat sink). I Dont want to get new hardware, can i overclock with out those?

And how do i unlock my processor, because i cant change my processor speeds.Overclocking Question?Change your FSB speed slowly in 5mhz intervals. Run it up untill your desired speed or untill the system crashes. After it crashes take it back down 10-15mhz to a safe speed.Overclocking Question?don't do it, you'll wear our your computer fast. the speed that its set at is the safe speed, you're just asking for trouble there..Overclocking Question?over clocking a pc can be tricky and cuts the cpu's life in half jest keep it as isOverclocking Question? As some body suggested, try in the intervels of 5 MHz and increase your FSB and try your luck. But personally I won't do it, because, I feel, Intel guys are clever, and already the processors are over clocked. and the processors are hot cake(Dosa Tawa)Overclocking Question?DO NOT DO IT i did it and in a year my computer was fryed and it was a new nice computer i wasted 500$ on itOverclocking Question?Answer #1 Is correctOverclocking Question? The problem with overclokcing your processor is the extra heat that it produces.. Most people if they do overclock the processor doesn't give a thought to this. This is a big mistake on their part. Some of the newer computers coming out now with the liquid cooling system come from the factory overclocked. I wouldn't suggest overclocking the computer unless you are ready to overhaul your cooling system, bigger fan, if not mulitiple fans in the case, You can overclock a computer and it last you just must make sure the processor does not get too hot.

  • Changing CPU for Better Gaming Speed!?

So, my laptop is pretty much great for gaming...except for the CPU. The stock one it came with is a single core lovely AMD Athlon 64 (I was being sarcastic on the %26quot;lovely%26quot;) and it spits out an ugly 1.6 ghtz. I Don't like that at all, so I found a different, Triple-core Processor which would make me happy. All the stats for it match and I've seen Youtube Videos on how to change the Processor. The socket matches and my only question is: should i change it by myself or should I get professional help and how much would that cost?

All answers appreciated!Changing CPU for Better Gaming Speed!?you can change it by your self if you can... or watch first videos how to install the cpu.

Is your board support that triple core processor? check also your board features before upgrading your cpu.Changing CPU for Better Gaming Speed!?Except that AMD does not yet have a triple core mobile processor. It will not fit into your laptop. Next time pay attention to the socket used.

I seriously doubt they'd be compatible with an old single core laptop, seeing as how it's the %26quot;S1g4%26quot; socket, which is NOT the same thing as S1. In addition, you're not thinking of the thermal and power requirements of the new chip, and your video card will be crap to go along with the crap CPU. You're completely wasting your time.Changing CPU for Better Gaming Speed!?You are wasting your time. Even if you could change the CPU to the triple core processor you desire (I don't think you can its not compatible) you would still be stuck with the slow none gaming GPU built into your laptop which you can't swap out. So your best bet would be to buy a new laptop as oppose to trying to upgrade it. In laptops I NEVER recommend you upgrade anything other than the memory or the hard disk drive. Anything else that is not factory installed is normally not worth bothering with.

How can a amd athlon (tm)processor be changed from 1.0ghz to 1.5ghz?

I cannot remember exactly but I think the only 1.0ghz was the thunderbird AMD processors. I might be wrong but I think the tops for that line of processor was 1.3ghz... Then came the Athalon that started out about 1.4 or so with the 1500+ processor. I cannot remember if they could use the same motherboard for both series of processors or not. Can a computer processor be changed?

Hello, I have a laptop that came with an Intel (R) Celeron Processor. Thus, my laptop's becoming old as new programs and application require the computer to be more advanced in order to run them. This is the case of Adobe Flash Player 9. I can't view %26quot;interactives%26quot; through the internet because when I try to install AFP 9, an error occurs. I checked the System Requirements and the program requires the system to have at least an Intel Pentium 2 Processor.

So, can the processor in my laptop be changed? If so, how much does a processor + installation (if I can't do it myself) cost? Would it be a better idea to buy a new computer? If it IS a better idea, then laptops/notebooks recommended? I DO want a new computer, but my parents don't like the idea very much. I would like a fast computer, though I don't need a lot of Hard Drive (30-50 GB is okay).

Thank you very muchCan a computer processor be changed?you can and if you contact me i can give you parts for a system upgrade. however more than likly since its Intel there is a slim chance it will get a big power boost from a prosessor swap i can however off an update package that will swap everything on the insides and make it primaraly a new computer. Can a computer processor be changed?yes

    Upgrading a older computer?

I have an old Dell Latitude LM166ST that I would love to upgrade. Is it possible to change the processor? Can I change the CD-ROM drive to a rewritable one? If so, how do I and where would I get the parts.Upgrading a older computer? You can, but its usually less expensive to get a new one-than to upgrade an old one.Upgrading a older computer?IT's a laptop and from dell so the upgrade is basically impossible. YOu can add more ram, hard drive and a try to go on dell's site to look for the Rewritable one. That's all about you can do with the laptop.Upgrading a older computer?depending on how old it is depends on if you can get a cpu and heat sink for it and for the cdrw yes you canUpgrading a older computer?I bought an old laptop and was never really happy with it. The biggest problem is it was basically out of date. As the person above says, you are probably better buying a new one. My experience was the batteries were worn out, the processor was inadequate, the memory was insufficient, and the windows was 95. I think I did actually ask the local agents about upgrading it and they said the only realistic option was to increase the memory to X amount, which I did.

I think it would be fun to do some of the upgrades yourself, but don't expect to turn it into the latest Compaq or Lenovo.

I know the cpu and cooling units can handle this. scottI have windows vista basic and a celeron M processor i want to change the speed from 1.6 ghz to 2ghz how do I?It really depends on the motherboard, some motherboard manufactures allow you to overclock your machine. However if you've bought your Laptop from a major manufacture such as Dell or HP the chances are you aren't going to be able to over clock your laptop. Your only other solution is to buy a new Processor.I have windows vista basic and a celeron M processor i want to change the speed from 1.6 ghz to 2ghz how do I?It would be in CPU voltage or frequency or something

Please do not try. its risky. cause the cooling method is too low for laptops to hold. its not like desktop.

for your nfo. For intel based system you cannot overclock. that option is sealed by INTEL not by AMD.

eBRoI have windows vista basic and a celeron M processor i want to change the speed from 1.6 ghz to 2ghz how do I?if possible it would be in the bios but i wouldnt sugest it because u can burn out ur proccesore and mother boardI have windows vista basic and a celeron M processor i want to change the speed from 1.6 ghz to 2ghz how do I?Overclocking is not a simple matter. Pick up some copies of a magazine called CPU (Computer Power User). They do overclocking all the time and you can see what all they go through to succeed. Most of the time it's simply not worth it. You risk blowing your cpu or power supply and other components. Computer speed and power improve so fast that by the time you buy the fastest computer and overclock it, a new, faster one comes out.

Depending upon what hardware you have in your computer, you'd do better and see a much greater speed increase by replacing some components with faster and better units. By replacing your hard disk with a 10,000 rpm scsi disk, and assuming that you are basically application bound instead of computational bound, you'd see a 200% to 300% improvement in the speed that your applications run compared to only about a 5% increase in 'computational' speed by overclocking. That 5% will NOT show up as a faster computer at all, if you have a slow hard disk.

    Changing to Dual Core?

So at the moment, my PC is a 3GHZ Pentium 4 Processor.

I was thinking of changing to a Dual Core soon.

I'd like to know, beforehand, if I should or not? Or of my PC could handle it?

My motherboard is a Asus P4P800-E deluxe.

3GB Ram. Using 34 Bit Vista.

I'd also like to know problems that may proceed, and if anyone could link a video on how to change the processor that would help a lot.

Thanks.Changing to Dual Core?i would say leave it, the problems that you might face, and the fact you would have to buy a new board, dosent really bring any benefits to you.

buy a new system insteadChanging to Dual Core?you can't handle it, your motherboard only has a socket that supports single core so you need a new motherboardChanging to Dual Core?Your motherboard does not support it, you would need a new motherboard which also means new Processor, new memory, new video card, and probably new power supply.

Its basically a new computer. Not worth upgrading.Changing to Dual Core?Sorry, You cannot change the processor on that certain motherboard. However, since you are wanting a Dual Core processor, why not look in the market for a Hyperthreaded Single Core CPU. Those are close to a Dual Core as you can get.

Plus, the cost of a HT Single core is very inexpensive. You can vitalize with that motherboard a 3.2Ghz Hyperthreaded Processor. What that means, is that the Hyperthreaded will mimic a 2nd processor (like cloning). Close to 2 cores for your motherboard as you can get.Changing to Dual Core?Hello James:

Your Asus P4P800-E Deluxe motherboard came equipped with an Intel based 478 socket (478 pins) to contain you Pentium 4 processor which is in fact a single core unit that is capable of hyperthreading.

As such you are not able to install the later dual core Pentium D processors or the Core 2 Duo (C2D) units as these require the LGA 775 socket.

However, if you are looking to upgrade your computer you could replace your present 3.0 GHz cpu with a faster 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 cpu that has 1mb of cache with a 800MHz rated FSB.

You can review this cpu at the following website:

(copy and paste the string into your browser's address bar)

    Changing laptop processors for gaming?

so i really hate my laptop right now because i can't play any good games with high performance and smooth gaming. not even cod4 i still have lags. my performance is HP Pavilion dv7, AMD Turion x2 dual core mobile (2CPUs),~2.1GHz, 4 gb ram, ATI Raedeon HD 3200. I was wondering how i can make my processor speed higher and doesnt cost much. im kinda afraid overclocking will break it and i dont know how. so i was thinking of changing a new processor to higher GHz so i need to know how to change it and what processor should i change it to or is there any retail store that can change it for me. all i know is i need to a computer that can play games smoothly thank you!Changing laptop processors for gaming?if you want the best gaming experience you really need to get a desktop. laptops will never give the same performance as a desktop for near the price. if you think your up to it you can build a computer like i did. get your parts from newegg.com

if you cant afford that or w/e and have to use your laptop then overclocking your laptop is the cheapest way to up your processor speed (its free) but i doubt your bios even allows overclocking. laptops are very hard to upgrade besides the RAM and hard drive and im not sure a processor upgrade would be worth the money if you were even able to do it. If you really want to upgrade something you may want to consider a Solid State Disk to replace your hard drive. They are expensive and dont have a lot of space but they are faster than hard drives and that could be part of your problem. Also some of your lags could be more from your gpu than your cpu. thats why im not sure a cpu upgrade would help a whole lot.

If you still are convinced you need a processor upgrade i dont really know what to tell you or what kind you should get. i dont know a whole lot about mobile processors. if you want high performance gaming you really just need to build a desktop.

Or you could get a ps3 or xbox360 if just want to play cod4...

hope this helpsChanging laptop processors for gaming? You cannot change the processor in any type of laptop. The problem is the space and heat constraints... Overclocking is a very bad idea as well for the same reason. This is why if you wana game, get a desktop.Changing laptop processors for gaming?the problem is you are trying to game on a system that was not designed for today's games. COD4 on high settings will cause lag on many systems. You dint state which processor you have in your laptop at all. Also you did not mention the OS...which i am assuming you have the resource hog called VISTA.

Higher frequency isn't always better. A somewhat slower processor with a bigger cache will beat out a high frequency processor with low cache. But as i mentioned before you never specified which Turion 64 X2 processor you have (Should be TL-60 or something like that)

You can change out processors in laptops...not sure where the first poster found their information at...but you can do so as long as you find one to match your motherboard.

I am getting memory for my computer, I have 512 in one slot.....?

Can I put 1gb in the other slot, with the 512gb also? And how much is too much or is there even a max? I have an Intel pentium 4 processor. With that being said, is the pentium 4 good to run large programs like games? And can I change my processor? any help will be great. I am currently shopping memory from the Dell website. I own a Compaq presario 6370us.I am getting memory for my computer, I have 512 in one slot.....?buy parts from here: lowest prices and best service

download cpuz from here: to determine ram and mobo specs

http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.phpI am getting memory for my computer, I have 512 in one slot.....?Should work fine, you need to check out you computer and make sure it can handle 1Gb sticks.

go to www.crucial.comI am getting memory for my computer, I have 512 in one slot.....?Try to find a manual for your motherboard and it should tell you all about the memory needed and or what to use there is also a scan done by some memory seller web sites that scan to tell you what and where to get the memory needed.I am getting memory for my computer, I have 512 in one slot.....?yes you can put that in there. and there is no sucjh thing as too much memory but there may be a limit to how much the board can take which you would need to consult the makers website for that....

also yes you can upgrade the proc in there.I am getting memory for my computer, I have 512 in one slot.....?You need the manual for your mother board. It will tell you how high of a processor you can put on that board. It will also give you step by step instructions on filling your memory banks. Some mother boards only allow the same size memory stick in each slot and they only go up to a certain amount that you can put in. That manual is god and you have got to look at it and read it before you add or take away anything on the mother board. Good Luck! Oh yeah, a lot of manuals are online if you don't have the original.I am getting memory for my computer, I have 512 in one slot.....?Check your user's manual that came with the PC for the specs of your model. It will probably say somewhere what the max. amount of RAM is that you can have for your model. If you don't have a manual, you might be able to download one for your model in DOC or PDF format from www.hp.com .

For example, you user's manual might say that you can only have 1GB RAM for your model. If you already have a 512, then buy another 512. Or, if the specs say that you could have up to 2GB, then you could buy two 1GBs. Etc.

Note: Compatibility is always an issue. You just never know if a RAM chip will work until you stick it in and %26quot;fire it up%26quot;. Try and remove the existing RAM chip to see specs written on it (if you don't already know them) to buy a compatible chip to increase your chances of success.

    Good luck. :-)
