BUT. Do a lot of reading, and searching around on Google to learn the basics. I've read guides, how-to's, etc, and it's still a pain. I recently bought a laptop with an AMD Turion X2 TL-60 Processor...I don't like the way it runs. I want to buy an Intel Core 2 Duo and replace it. Is that possible? If so, how do I do it?

PSU requirements shouldn't be much of a problem for just swapping a CPU in this case.

only a thin layer of thermal grease spread evenly with as smooth a surface as possible is required, the heatsink will need to be cleaned of any residual thermal compund before fitting, installing the CPU is simple enough - there is an arrow to one corner of the chip that will need to be matched with the socket on the mobo, after getting the CPU in place correctly you'll then need to carefully re-fit the heatsink being careful not to get any thermal grease onto any of the other components,How do I change a Processor in a Computer?you will need to know exactly what mobo you have and what chipset it is using. then run the program which will show if your cpu has 64bit support... with this confirmed you then need to purchase a 64bit version of windows... some of the latest versions (windows 7,vista) come with both 32bit and 64bit disks when you buy them... and then you need to reinstall windows using the 64bit disk...( some disks have 32bit and 64bit on the same disk and you simply choose the appropriate version when prompted... note : 32bit will appear as x86...)

To install Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7, you will need to have the disk that you know has a 64-bit copy of Windows on it. You may have to buy it.

All you do is undo the snaps holding the heat sink on top of the CPU, pull the heat sink off (it may take a little force there is a thermal paste that binds the Heat sink and CPU together) Pull the lever up and pull the CPU out.
To put your new one in......you can tell which way it goes in by the pin design on the corners and there should also be a arrow point at which end is up. make sure it drops right in the slot (shouldn't take any force at all) pull the lever back down to the locked position...you will have to apply a new coat of thermal paste to the top of the chip (an amount about the size of a rice grain is perfect) stick the heat sink on top of it and clip it back on then screw the fan down to the heat sink and plug it in to to a 3 or 4 pin mobo power connector.

All you do is undo the snaps holding the heat sink on top of the CPU, pull the heat sink off (it may take a little force there is a thermal paste that binds the Heat sink and CPU together) Pull the lever up and pull the CPU out.

So, I was looking around and I've noticed a processor on sale. I have a Emachines H3504 Desktop PC, With Celron D as my processor. IT has 3.20GHz. I am currently running a 633 celeron, 256 memory, which is max. A 64mb video card. I already replaced the power supply with 350 or so watts so power isnt a problem. I've cut vents in my case and have an extra fan so cooling isnt an issue.

Since it's a small-form-factor chassis, heat dissipation is not as efficient as a normal tower case. Your Celeron is probably the best CPU for it.
If you want to upgrade, you might try a Northwood-core Pentium-4, which are also socket-478 CPUs.
I would not recommend a Prescott-core Pentium-4, because those things generate A LOT of heat. 120 watts of it. (compared to 80 watts for a Northwood and 60 watts for your Celeron). Put a PresHott into that tiny case, and you are running a very real risk of overheating that computer.

5. Press down on the locking clip that secures the heatsink while popping the front tab out with a flathead screwdriver.
6. Lift up the clip to remove it from the heatsink
7. Lift the heatsink off the processor module
8. Lift up the metal lever at the left of the processor module
9. Pull the processor straight up (carefully) by the edges, don't bend the pins!
Follow the procedure in reverse with the new processor.
The reason Youtube videos are slow is most likely because the machine is so old, upgrading the processor will be a good start, the video card upgrade will help too.

The performance is not entirely based on the clock speed eg 2.20 ghz
you should also look towards the FSB rate this determines its data transfer rate with the ram, a high clock speed coupled with a high FSB will tell you the best CPU.
The best CPU you can get with your current motherboard is the AMD athlon 3700+ its a 2.4GHZ FSB:unknown

The performance is not entirely based on the clock speed eg 2.20 ghz
you should also look towards the FSB rate this determines its data transfer rate with the ram, a high clock speed coupled with a high FSB will tell you the best CPU.
The best CPU you can get with your current motherboard is the AMD athlon 3700+ its a 2.4GHZ FSB:unknown

You would probably be better off getting yourself a core duo quad that fits a 775 socket. Or depending on your board, you may just want to overclock your chip until the costs on the i series come down a bit. I have a Dell Dimension 2300 that has a Intel Celeron in it and I want it out! I hate that thing! I have 1.70 Ghz with 384 RAM and I want to put an AMD Athlon on the motherboard. Its a 850 Mhz but I dont know how to convert Megahurtz into Gigahurtz and back. They are both onboard with chipset of 420. Do ALL the windows updates. Install Windows Defender and SpyBot Search and Destroy (you can find them both via google).

1. Unplug ANY cables in the back of your computer. I know it's a major pain to put them back in, but then, that's life.
2. Bring your computer to an open space such as a living room, and for safety, do three things: 1. Place it sideways on top of a plank, 2. Wrap a piece of wire around your pinky finger tightly and wrap the other end around one of the screws in an outlet, and 3. Wear plastic gloves. YOU DON'T WANT TO SHOCK THE MOTHERBOARD! ALSO, DO NOT PUT THE END OF THE WIRE IN THE SOCKET, WRAP IT AROUND ONE OF THE SCREWS HOLDING THE SOCKET TO THE WALL!
3. Remove the side of the computer. If it won't slide out, don't force it! Turn it over and try the other side. Only one of them will open, usually the left side when you face the computer head on. For more help, check your computer's user manual.
4. There should be a square block sticking up in the middle of the motherboard. VERY CAREFULLY unlatch it and put it aside. There should be a small metal square underneath. Do the same thing with it as the cube.
5. Again, VERY CAREFULLY unpack the new CPU you bought over the Internet. Following the instructions that came with it, put it where the old CPU was.
6. Replace the side of the computer, bring back to where you use it, and replug all the cables.

You may need to re-activate your copy of windows but that is usually only the case if you swap out the motherboard.
Make sure the processor you buy is the right socket type for your motherboard, your motherboard will only accept the right type of processor.
