How hard is it to change my AMD processor?

It's in a HP if that's any help. It has a 900 right now and I need a bigger one.How hard is it to change my AMD processor?I am guessing by 900 you mean 900 Mhz which would be a socket-A amd athlon? so you can only use socket-A cpus in your motherboard you may also need a bigger heat sink and fan depending on how much faster it is...best bet is to buy one that comes with a heat sink and fan..

All you do is undo the snaps holding the heat sink on top of the CPU, pull the heat sink off (it may take a little force there is a thermal paste that binds the Heat sink and CPU together) Pull the lever up and pull the CPU out.

To put your new one in......you can tell which way it goes in by the pin design on the corners and there should also be a arrow point at which end is up. make sure it drops right in the slot (shouldn't take any force at all) pull the lever back down to the locked position...you will have to apply a new coat of thermal paste to the top of the chip (an amount about the size of a rice grain is perfect) stick the heat sink on top of it and clip it back on then screw the fan down to the heat sink and plug it in to to a 3 or 4 pin mobo power connector.

if you dont get paste with your new one here is about the best you can buy:

ive had a 512 for 5 years and it hasnt slowed down ONCE and its perfectly fine even when i run intense cpu programs ^^

NO LAGHow hard is it to change my AMD processor? It is easy, just move the locking leaver and remove the chip. Make sure your Hp Motherboard can support the new chip or it will not work. How hard is it to change my AMD processor?Shouldn't be difficult, You just need a big, static free workspace, time and a calm mind when you do it! It can be fiddly. I recomend you get an antistatic bracelet before you start work too..just in case :) Make sure the processor is compatable with your other parts, and make sure it will fit properly in the case!
