How do I change this processor?

From Intel Pentium Dual Core E5300 2.66ghz

To http://microcenter.com/single_product_reHow do I change this processor?combine what those first two guys said and you have your answer.

You need a new mother board and to change it as you are told.

You would probably be better off getting yourself a core duo quad that fits a 775 socket. Or depending on your board, you may just want to overclock your chip until the costs on the i series come down a bit. I run my E5200 at 3.5 GHz makeing it about as fast as a 8400.How do I change this processor? At the minimum you'll need to change the motherboard. The Core i5's and i7's use a different socket than your E5300. Other than that, you should be able to keep the rest of your parts. How do I change this processor? If you don't already have an idea then you probably should not be attempting this. You will need to remove the heat sink and then remove the processor from the socket. You will need to undo some sort of a lock that holds it in place. Make sure that the computer is unplugged and you are using some sort of anti static guard, an improvised wrist strap made with copper wire can work.

Next, you will need to insert the new processor into the socket and lock it in place. Be very careful in this step, if you bend a pin, you might as well throw away your processor as you will have ruined it. Next apply a compound like arctic silver to provide a good contact between the processor and the heat sink. There are metallic and ceramic compounds but metallic compounds typically work better. Don't use too much, if any get on the processor pins of leak anywhere onto the motherboard it can be catastrophic. Put the heat sink back on and lock it in place while the compound is still moist. Reconnect, if applicable, the power source to the heat sink fan.

Again, I do not recommend this for any inexperienced user.
